If you read my review of Wil Reynolds’ Keynote, you may remember he talked about the power of one: the one person or one session that made all of the time and money you put into getting to Affiliate Summit worth it. For me, this may be that session. I even toyed with the idea of not doing a write-up, as I found this information to be that valuable, but I’ll share it with you.
- Deb and I have done podcasts together, educating merchants on how to run a successful affiliate program. She, from the merchant / OPM side and I as an affiliate. It’s good to make sure you and your partner are on the same page (more on this later).
- I was representing the press (as a blogger) and didn’t want to just cover affiliate sessions.
Wil was took the stage to some sort of Google theme song… too bad I didn’t Shazam it (is Shazam a verb? Now it is). He immediately brought up Panda, and how much he loves it because
crap stopped showing up in results.
Wrapping up the Sunday sessions I attended at Affiliate Summit East was
The Future of Coupons in Affiliate Marketing with Connie Arnold of Flamingo World, Carolyn Kmet of Groupon, Carrie Rocha (Pocket Your Dollars) and Kim Rowley (Key Internet Marketing). The session was moderated by Trisha Lyn Fawver of For Me to Coupon & host of Affiliate Marketing Fanatics.
The SEO Clinic at Affiliate Summit East, lead by Rae Hoffman-Dolan with Kenny Hyder, Michael Gray and Jim Boykins, was the next session I attended on Sunday. It seems like there were a lot of SEO sessions at Affilaite Summit (SEO Clinic, SEO – Ask the Pros, SEO for Large Sites), but this is one I wouldn’t miss.
The sites reviewed were Big City Vegan, Penny Auction Watch, Ecotools.com, HipJointPainRelief.com , and reuseit.com.
Tricia Meyer and Kristen Grace (of buycostumes.com) presented a session at Affiliate Summit East 2011, moderated by Todd Farmer, on
Taking Advantage of Seasonality in Affiliate Marketing. I originally didn’t have this session marked as one for me to attend, because I didn’t think most of my sites were seasonal. However, I’m glad I went.
, has been scheduled to Keynote at Eric Thomas, The Hip Hop PreacherAffiliate Summit West in Las Vegas in January, 2012.
I first recommended Eric to Shawn back in March, but Affiliate Summit already had the keynote speakers lined up for this summer’s show. Then Jon Spoelstra had to cancel, leaving an opening keynote to be filled. I hoped ET and Affiliate Summit could work out a deal for Eric to fill in, but it didn’t work out in time for #ASE11. However, they did reach a deal to have ET Keynote at #ASW12!
After the intro sessions at Affiliate Summit (
First Timers Guide and
How to Pitch Your Company), the first session I attended was
Industry Clash: Balancing CPS & CPA Marketing featuring Ian Fernando (CPA), Jason Rubacky (CPS), Logan Thompson (both) and moderated by Greg Hoffman.
Rae Hoffman-Dolan, aka Sugarrae, is a well-known SEO and Affiliate Marketer. Her SEO training piggy-backed on Affiliate Summit, and was an additional registration fee ($800, when I booked). What was I hoping to get for $800?
I’m going to have session recaps up over the next few days, but I wanted to write a general recap of my recent trip to Affiliate Summit East 2011 held in New York City August 21-23.
I attended as three roles: affiliate, speaker, and press (blogger)
